15 Tips to Taking Christ to Work with You
by Dolly Norris-Hooker

How can we at Christians acknowledge Christ at work? Do we go to work daily preaching the good news of Jesus from our desktops?  That is probably not the most effective or beneficial ways to bring the message to your unsaved co-workers.  Instead, depending on your boss, you will probably loose your job?  So how do you show Christ to your co-workers?

  1. The most important thing to remember is your real boss is perfect in every way. As Christians, we are working for God, not men. Colossians 3:23
  2. Begin your day with prayer, remembering to give thanks for your job. Pray for your co-workers, boss, clients & customers. Keep a list posted near you and as you speak with people and hear of a need, add it to your list so you will remember to pray for them.
    1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
  3. Spend time with God. Use your lunch break to read your Bible and refresh your spirit.
  4. Honor your earthly boss. Remember authority was established by God. Romans 13:1
  5. Do your job to the best of your ability. People may be able to ridicule you for being a Christian, but they can’t ridicule you for doing a good job. Ecclesiastes 9:10
  6. Because we can take refuge in God we can be joyful in all situations. Psalm 5:11
  7. Be honest in dealing with your boss, co-workers, and clients; even if it means putting your job in jeopardy, because the Lord is in control and will never leave nor forsake you.  Leviticus 19:11 & Deuteronomy 31:6
  8. Do not steal. If you are taking home supplies (pens, paperclips, paper, etc) without permission, then you are stealing from your company. You may not loose your job but what testimony are you sharing with those around you? Exodus 20:15
  9. Find another Christian within your workplace and befriend them. You will then make His joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Philippians 2:1-2
  10. Be aware of the example you are setting. Matthew 5:14-16
  11. Don’t gossip.  Talking about others does not show you are a trustworthy employee, employer or friend.  Leave and lead by example when other's begin to gossip.  Proverbs 4:24

  12. The Bible tells us to not let the sun go down while we are still angry. If you have a problem with a co-worker, your boss, or a client, get it resolved quickly. Ephesians 4:26

  13. If you have a problem with someone, take it up with them privately. Matthew 18:15
  14. Learn to forgive those who have offended or hurt you. Luke 6:37
  15. Stay focused and as the apostle Paul said think about good things that are true, pure and admirable. Phil. 4:8
